Friendship #2 : The Group

16:27

There's always a small group of friends that you hold close to your heart and you spend a lot of time with, inside school/work and in your own time. That group changes over time as you and your friends change and develop individual personalities that may cause you to grow apart but as long as you and your group like each other and can comfortably be yourselves together, all is well.

There's always a group inside a group too, with your closest few being your "faves" or "baes" or "bffs". And that's perfectly okay. As long as you're never neglectful of anybody in your main little group, or in your extended group, or in your extra group with people who go to another school/college.

Everyone will have their very own number one bestest friend, who may or may not be part of the big school gang, and have a second best bestest friend. But your little main group will be your best friends. And your extended "squad" will be your friends. Everyone else is either an acquaintance, stranger, or "that bitch I hate".

You'll have your inside jokes and memories that you can't forget or ever stop laughing about:

And that's the greatest thing about friendships. That they can make you so very happy. Even if I may get told off in public places for my overly loud laugh (I can't help it, that is just my happy making sound), to be there with my friends - the right friends - is a gift which I treasure so very much. Which reminds me of a quote a man once told me: Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift and that is why it's called the present.

Treasure your friends and the fun you have with them, make the giggles last a little while longer and make the memories come back to life more often. And even when old friends move on to new company and you find some glorious humans to spend your times with, never forget the good times. Linger onto those and let the arguments and fall outs pass you by, it's much more worthwhile to use your brain space on the smiles rather than the tears.

And great friends will only let you cry with laughter.

Cheerio loved ones - Beky x
