Januray Favourites...

06:07

Why hello there dear reader! I planned a couple weeks ago to do a little monthly favourites post in true "female blog/vlogger beauty guru" style, so I just picked out a few random items I have been enjoying a lot this month. Some are old faves but most things I shall talk about are new to me this month and I have been loving them a lot so I thought I'd just share them and maybe it can lighten up your month too. Let me know if you like this and I might try to make it an occurring post this year as a sort of project type thing, I already have found some new things to be my favourites in February hehee.

I'm not sponsored by anything at all, everything that I will say I enjoy in a few seconds is purely because I just LAVE it! I enjoyed trying my hand at some cheeky product photography too, I laid my fluffy white dressing gown onto my bed for the background and borrowed my brothers small lamp as it's brighter than mine. But do excuse the shoddy job, the first picture I took was great and I was really chuffed but lets just say the photos got increasingly shite as the little shoot went on. I should start investing in some lighting stuff if this continues on. Anyway let us begin.

Firstly, Nivea skincare which I absolutely adore since it helped soothe and fix my face when it blew up back a day because I think I'm allergic to liquid make up. The night cream is my favourite this month because I use it every single day, after I've washed and cleansed my face before I go to bed. And pretty much every day I wake up and my face still feels moisturised and I don't feel like I need to use the day cream. If I'm going out I put on their primer before putting on make up which is incredible too. I love the pot it comes in aswell, it's probably about the size of my palm and it lasts well. I put one finger in and swirl it around once and put a "fingerprint of cream" on my forehead, one on each cheek and one on my neck and a little goes a long way. I prefer their pink dry skin versions of whatever product they have but I find the "normal" blue night cream works fine for me too.

Late last December I bought this bronzer/highlight/blusher set in Superdrug - the fact it was the cheapest I saw totally had no relevance to why I bought it, no definitely not... Okay well it helped matters hehee. I liked this because each colour was the same size and it was simple and pretty much what I was looking for as my old blusher/bronzer set was wearing down. I wanted to get a tad more adventurous this year with my make up and thought I'd give the ol' contouring shizz a go. I have been enjoying my make up this month, feel free to follow my Instagram to see selfies of me and my face :)

I occasionally root through my mom's huge make up collection to scout out things I'm running low on to save me having to spend money on something I already have in the house. Mainly this consists of mascaras that I always want to switch up. But recently I came across some gorgeous Bare Minerals brushes. I fancied myself an angled brush to experiment with the new cheek stuff I bought and when I opened up a glittery brush roll to find one, along with some others, I was most pleased and adopted them into my own room. I changed my shelf around a bit to accommodate for the new addition and I'm really loving the mini room redecoration.

Keeping with the make ups... Along with the brushes I hunted out a few more lipstick colours and this one, my oh my I love it! I have been wearing this all the time as a natural shade, as the foundation makes my lips pale I bring it back with this little beauty. Now I know squat about make up so I took a picture of the bottom for all your beady little eyeballs ladies, I very much recommend this colour.

I do like to pair it with a lipgloss too, this one is by Bare Minerals but I've been using it a lot and the words have smudged off which is heart breaking but I do know it did say "MOXIE" on it and the colour is very similar to the lipstick, if a bit more pink/red while the lipstick is a tad more nude.

And now we head to the much more random objects, which don't include a book because I haven't had much opportunity to sit down and read one - I cry. I have a couple waiting by my bedside ready to be opened so hopefully next month I can list a favourite book.

One of my new years resolutions as you may know is to drink more water (to be quite honest it has taken a little fall but I'm determined to bring it back) and to help with this I thought I would stimulate myself by having a water bottle that wasn't one I once bought from the shop and has been refilled countless times. I found this glass 650ml bottle in T K Maxx (or if you're American: T J Maxx) It's by  "apana" and I love it because the "straw" can be folded in and out of the handle and it doesn't spill. It's very much like a straw and water only comes out if you sippy sippy (10 points if you get that reference) Also It has a silicone case which not only protects the glass but it has motivational and water related quotes on it which are entertaining to read like "Peace, happiness & beverages." As well as little windows so you can see how full your bottle is during the day.

Keeping with food, I'm really not a cereal person but I hunted for something I might like as sometimes I don't have time in the morning to wait for toast to pop. So I took a risk and tried out these "wholegrain apricot wheats" from Sainsburys and they are yummy! I hate how cereals get all soggy by the end of it but these don't get that disgusting and soggy really, and the flavour of the apricot inside makes it worth eating because I've tried shredded wheat before and it's a bit bland. A nice quick breakfast, sorted!

It's near impossible for me to choose a favourite YouTuber of the month, but in January I finished binge watching How I Met Your Mother. I remember when this first came out and I refused to watch it simply because channels called it "The new FRIENDS" and I didn't want Friends to stop it's re runs. However I finally found myself watching it and I just love the humour, I often feel like this will be me and my friends when we are older, but hopefully none of us will make the story of how we met our significant other so immensely long for our children. I rewatched because Once Upon A Time has stopped for a bit and I hadn't actually seen every single episode so I watched to fill the gaps. However I haven't seen season 9 yet as it's not on Netflix so no spoilers please! I'm going to borrow a friends dvd of season 9 as she watches the show much more religiously than I do.

In January me and the boys (my dad and brother) took a trip to Ikea as my brother needed a new bed - he figured nearly-20-year-olds don't have high beds that are like a bunk bed without the bottom bunk so upgraded to something lower. I went along with them to help but as well as assisting in lugging the boxes onto the trolley I picked out a few trinkets for myself, how can you not! My favourite were these yellow fake flowers. I picked these as it was really the only colour with some variants in shade and I thought three different shades of yellow - my favourite colour - would look better than three of the same. I also picked out a purple one but I haven't quite found a home for it yet.

I housed these flowers in a washed out glass Coca Cola bottle because I'm oh so cool and Pinterest-y. They sit behind some photo frames in my room and I just think it's a cute and bright addition to my room, and the best thing about these flowers is that they will never die - perfect.

Pinterest has been very much used this month too, but I also adore Instagram. These two apps are my favourite always because they truly please my eyeballs with beautiful photos left right and centre. This month I came across somebody on Instagram in "explore" who posts pictures and videos of them doing their job of pottery. The videos are my favourite because something about watching a lump of clay be transformed into a bowl or vase is just intensely satisfying, I very much recommend you give @tortus_copenhagen a follow, it's just so interesting to see the before shots of the crockery we all have at home. He has definitely been my favourite Instagram account this month!

What a mis-match of favourites! Please let me know if you want to see this next month and I shall try to keep it fresh and un-repetitive. Also do let me know if you have been inclined to seek out anything I've mentioned or something like it :)

Cheerio loved ones, and a happy February to you! Beky x
