Equality #1 : Feminism.

If you Google "feminism" This is the first thing that will appear: Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. Feminism is too often mistaken for misandry. Both men and women can be feminists and believe and support the feminist movement, not because they think women are the superior gender, but because they believe in equality.
A misandrist is "a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against men", a misogynist is "a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against women", a feminist is "a person who supports women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes."
It is not shameful to want gender equality. but as soon as this is labelled feminism, as it should be correctly labelled, people start throwing shit at the fan. particularly when men say "yes I am a feminist". It does not mean they themselves are a woman who hate men, likewise it doesn't mean actual women hate men, it means that they support gender equality. However, male and female are not the only two genders in this world, there are a fair few, but I am not fully informed of this so I shan't say much.
Feminism is mistaken by well educated journalists within the media who write bogus stories about feminist events, conducted by mostly women because they are the ones who have been raised in female lives and lived female lives, therefore they know full well what is going on and how they are being treated. These journalists set the standards for society in general and inject their misogynist ideologies into males and even some females.
If you are not a feminist you are a misogynist. That's that. If you are not a feminist you do not want women to be equal to men. When women aren't the equals of men, jokes like "stay in the kitchen" and "make me a sandwich" become acceptable. We can't succumb to these ideas because what in the world makes men so much more valuable and important to women?!
Despite the common "women's place is in the kitchen" jokes (which already is wrong because kitchens have a lot of sharp knives in there) If asked what a woman's role in a restaurant is, many people will say "waitress", and where are the men? "They're the chef." So is it really a case of "women belong in the kitchen" or is it that women's roles in society is one of servitude? Either way, I advice you not to be misogynistic and piss off a lady then lock her in a room with a stash of knives.
If you believe that ALL genders should be accepted as equal human beings (which quite frankly, they fucking are) then you are, by definition, a feminist. Don't feel ashamed about a name of your belief. Should you really be letting society tell you that you're a pansy for respecting everybody anyway?
