A Stroll Around Town

04:41

Greetings folks! I hope you've had a good week, mine has been full to the brim of socialising! Last weekend I took my camera with me as I met up with three friends - the same beautiful three that featured on the canal walk, they'll start charging me for modelling soon if I'm not careful! The plan was to go to a gallery but to be honest that was a colossal disappointment and had only large paintings a 2 year old could scribble and some really very odd film installations on large old telly's that was a bit like ASMR. So we all had a subway and visited the Library of Birmingham - or rather the library's balconies.

I used my 50mm lens all day. I was very pleased to be so confident with such a valuable out and about on my own and I can't wait to get more used to bringing my camera with me, no matter who I'm with or where I go. I can only imagine what goes through my friends heads when they sense my camera pointing at them, but hey, I do get some lovely candids so I hope they don't mind too much...

Cheeky trip to the bin, involving a friendly nudge from Ryan seconds before this shot which induced the giggles.
Teaching Annie how to catch a Pokemon. I quite liked getting shots of them on the bridge here because it felt like there was only us, until a man politely stopped dead in his tracks to avoid being photographed. Always an awkward moment isn't it.
As we headed into the library I quickly took this typical shot looking up at the building and later realised in processing that it actually says "Library of Birmingham" down the side, which I never saw before...
I always thought the new library didn't really fit in amongst the rest of the old architecture of Birmingham - particularly how it sits in a square full of old buildings, it stuck out like a sore and obnoxious thumb. But it does make a good object to photograph.
I was quite taken by the circles, they gave me something to toy with from different angles and points of focus.

I quite like this one looking though the metal cage of the library, as you can see B-town is much more full of old architecture. In the front bottom centre you can see part of the former library that this one replaced as it's in the midst of being torn down.
It me.

Despite the crappy view and disappointing gallery, the company -as ever- were bundles of laughs and made a very pleasant day.
There's always someone who asks "can I have a go" and reasons it with "there will be no photos of you!" - I should really start making myself more photo ready for such occasions.
Many Pokemon were caught in the making of this blogpost. I swear I'm not sponsored by Pokemon Go
Oh my friends do make me cackle.
I hope you've enjoyed this insight into Brum town and it's library - and my fab pals of course. Let me know which shot is your favourite or even share with me some of your own candid or architecture photography. Do expect more like this in the future ;)

I wish you all another pleasant week and hey why not go out for a stroll around your local town with your buddies and seek out some new little gems of locations to chatter in.

Cheerio loved ones - Beky x
